Sri Lanka: A fight against the Colombo Port City project
This is an email sent by the Executive Director for the Centre for Environmental Justice/Friends of the Earth Sri Lanka regarding their fight against the Colombo Port City Project in Sri Lanka. It appears that the project has been currently suspended.
We have files a legal case against the Chinese project in Sri Lanka called Colombo Port City project. This will fill 500 acres of the sea next to the Colombo Harbour and a part of the land will be created as an island and will be totally own by the Chinese government. This is an example of Ocean grabbing. Please see the news article here.
We need your support. Any document on the impact of sand mining in the deep see and coastal erosion will be helpful to argue this case.
